You walk into every room with a reputation. You walk onto the internet like a stranger who's lost their lanyard.

We turn the credibility you've already earned offline into a Substack worth following. We make the call on what you stand for, build the system it runs on, and keep it shipping when you're too deep in the real work to do it yourself.

The diagnosis

Brilliant, but invisible, is just a secret.

You've got the credentials, the clients, the war stories, twenty years of knowing exactly what you're talking about — and a Substack you've shown up to every week for eight months, sitting at four hundred-odd subscribers who never write back.

You don't have a talent problem. You have a "nobody knows what you're about" problem, and it winds me up on your behalf, because it's the most fixable thing going.

Name the lie

Everyone's telling you to post more.

Posting more is how you get ignored faster. Pick the one idea you want to be known for, and say it till your name and that idea are the same thing.

Average is free now. Be expensive.

So here's what to do instead

What we do

We don't give advice. We build the thing.

Most people hand you a strategy deck and a "good luck, babe." We build the publication, switch it on, and keep it running while you go be brilliant elsewhere.

You bring the expertise. We build the proof everyone can see.

The Atelier

The climb — three ways up

Three rungs. Start where you are.

Rung 1

Authority Audit from $500

We take your positioning apart and hand it back sharper. The one idea worth your name, decided and defended. A full teardown of your Substack — what works, what leaks trust, what gets cut. And a build blueprint: ten to fifteen moves, ranked by impact. You leave knowing exactly what to say.

Delivered in 5–7 days, walked through live · the fee comes off Rung 2

Founding Ten: 10 of 10 founding seats left — next rung is $650. The price never comes back down.

Rung 2

Positioning System from $1,500

The whole engine, built in two to three weeks. Your point of view and voice on paper. Your Substack designed, cleaned up and switched on. A template kit, a Notion command centre, and a 90-day calendar drawn from what's already worked. You don't leave with recommendations. You leave with the thing running.

Live in 2–3 weeks · audit credit applies within 30 days

Founding Ten: 10 of 10 founding seats left — next rung is $2,100. The price never comes back down.

Rung 3

Growth Retainer from $850/mo

We keep it shipping. Fifteen to twenty Notes a month — planned, written, designed. Your long-form steered, your assets batched, your growth read monthly, your Authority Score re-run quarterly so the climb is visible. You still write the essays. We keep the machine alive.

Monthly · you write the essays, we run the machine

Founding Ten: 10 of 10 founding seats left — next rung is $1,250/mo. The price never comes back down.

The receipts

We know it works because we did it to ourselves.

1.9K+ subscribers in the same niche, from scratch. We ran the playbook on our own name before we ever ran it on yours. Receipts over reach.

Kaila Krayewski

Who's behind it

Built by someone who did it first.

The Atelier is Kaila Krayewski — writer, editor, and seasoned starter-over-er. Nearly two decades living everywhere but "home": editing luxury travel magazines in Bangkok, running social for the Shangri-La hotel group for seven years, an editing desk for one of America's most famous copywriters, and a trail of businesses built, sold, and survived along the way.

Then she did the thing this page is about. Home Abroad, launched from a standing start in July 2025 — 1.9K+ subscribers in its first year, a voice people recognise, a name that means something. Grown in public, on her own name, in the exact spot you're standing in.

No theory off a slide. We ran the playbook on ourselves, it worked, and now a small studio runs it for a handful of people who are brilliant at the actual job and tired of being a secret.

Receipts over reach.

How it works

Four steps. You do one.

  1. 01

    Come on up.

Six quick questions, two minutes, no dead contact form.

  2. 02

    We read the leak.

You see exactly where your authority's going missing.

  3. 03

    Pick your rung.

    Audit, system, or retainer.

  4. 04

    We build it.

    You go be brilliant.

The method: Position → Build → Ship → Compound

A row of brass keys on hooks — two already taken

The founding keys are all still on their hooks.

Not for everyone

We take on a handful at a time.

This is built work, not a course you binge and abandon. The studio's full capacity is two audits and one system build a month, alongside five or six retainer clients — after that, quality slips, so we stop. If the timing's right, the quiz is where you raise your hand.

The quiz

Find out where your authority's leaking.

Six quick questions. A straight read on what's costing you readers — useful long before it ever feels like a sales call.

No dead contact form. A human reads every answer within four hours.

Q&A

Who's this for?

Experts with a real reputation offline and next to nothing online. Brilliant in the room, a stranger on the feed — you're ours.

Do I have to write it all myself?

No, that's the point. You bring the expertise; we build and run the publication.

What if I haven't decided what I stand for?

Perfect — that's rung one. The audit makes the call with you.

Isn't this just another agency?

Agencies hand you a deck. We build the thing and keep it shipping. Receipts over reach.

Can't I just do this with AI?

AI drafts. It doesn't decide what you should be known for, build the system under it, or keep the rhythm alive when work gets loud. We use it plenty behind the scenes — you're paying for judgment, taste, build, and accountability. AI hands you options. We make the call.

How fast will I see results?

Authority compounds, it doesn't spike. The system's live in weeks; the reputation builds over months.

Why is my Substack not growing?

Nine times out of ten it isn't the writing — it's positioning. Nobody decided what the publication is for, so readers can't repeat it to anyone, and a newsletter nobody can repeat doesn't get recommended. The audit names your exact leak in a week.

How do I get more Substack subscribers?

Not by posting more. Pick one idea worth your name, tie every post to three or four pillars, show up in Notes on a rhythm, and surface your proof monthly. That's the system we build — it grew Home Abroad to 1.9K+ subscribers in its first year, in public.

What does a Substack growth agency actually do?

Most hand you tactics and leave. A positioning studio makes the call on what you stand for, builds the publication and the system behind it — design, templates, calendar, command centre — then keeps it shipping. Deciding, building, and running are three different jobs; we do all three.

What does it cost to have someone run your newsletter?

Our founding rates are public: the Authority Audit from $500, the Positioning System from $1,500, the Growth Retainer from $850 a month — and they rise on a published ladder, never in secret. The quiz points you to the right one.

Do you only work with Substack?

Substack is where we build, because it's where credibility compounds — an owned audience, depth over dopamine. Your LinkedIn and the rest get stronger because the publication gives them something to point at.

I'm a consultant, not a writer. Is this still for me?

Especially you. Consultants, fractional executives, and founders are exactly who we build for — people whose calendar is full of proof their feed never shows. You bring the expertise; the system does the showing.

So what is The Atelier, plainly?

An atelier is a workshop — the studio at the top of the house where the craftsperson actually makes the thing. That's the meaning we keep: The Atelier, the Substack positioning studio of Home Abroad, doesn't hand you advice and wish you luck. It decides, builds, and runs.

We exist for founders, consultants, and experts — many running businesses while they work from home abroad — whose reputation is real and entirely offline. Their Substack stalls at a few hundred subscribers because nobody decided what the publication is for. That's not a writing problem; it's a Substack positioning problem.

The fix runs in three rungs: an Authority Audit (from $500) that makes the positioning call inside a week; a Positioning System (from $1,500) that turns the decision into a working publication; and a Growth Retainer (from $850 a month) that keeps it shipping — done-for-you newsletter strategy with your voice intact.

Why trust us with Substack growth? We ran the playbook on our own name first: Home Abroad grew to 1.9K+ subscribers in its first year, in public — receipts above. And where ghostwriters produce words without strategy and coaches sell frameworks you build alone, an atelier does the deciding and the building and the running. The way in is the six-question quiz — or more about the studio here.
